Long time, no blogs

Hello bloggers!

This would have been a very long almost four week break from blogging! I am so sorry to say that blogging was not one my radar during prac! Prac was a fantastic experience I really enjoyed every single second of it! I had a beautiful grade one class full of very different and diverse learners…. I learnt a lot! and cannot believe it is all over for another semester! Prac makes me realise just how much I love teaching and cannot wait to have my very own little classroom! Returning to work though is very much a drag! here is a great motivating quote

Cybersmart Certificate of Completion

Throughout the week 10 learning path we were asked to undergo some modules created by connect ed. These modules covered many different aspects some of which included cyberbullying, cypersafety as well as many different definitions and examples etc. No student we will teach, will every be without technology. Whether that includes mobile phones, computers, iPads, tablets, laptops, internet, free wifi etc. Students will always have a way and means of being able to get onto the internet and use technology in some way. It is scary to think that they will never go a day that they will not have used some type of technology …. amazing really. Take a look at my completion certificate here… will give you and idea of what exactly I had to compelte in order to gain my certificate.

Aim for this week….

After completing some of the most stressful week at uni I have ever experienced! I am now ready and raring to get started to complete the last and final assessment pieces for information and communication technologies subject!!!! After look at assignment 3 I must admit I was shocked at just how much was left to do! 5 weeks to complete 3 assignments for ICT as well as other subjects, 3 weeks of prac and somewhere be able to fit in sleep! I can see the Kiera and I are very much on the same page! This week’s aim is to meet with my prac mentor and discuss the working and organisational requirements needed to complete prac successfully! Complete week 10’s learning path and set number of blog posts, as well as getting a head start on assignment 3! Goodluck everyone we are going to need it!

ICTs enhancing learning!

Since completing 2 of the 3 information communication technologies assessment pieces I have been very intrigued and shocked as to just how much ICT can and should be incorporated into learning and lessons daily. The use of concept maps especially from online resources is a fantastic way of brainstorming for any subject! I used this as the basis of many of my learning experiences in my unit plan for assignment 2 as it was a fantastic way to engage students as well as include them within the lesson and brainstorming! I am so glad Laurel had the same idea! she has written a fantastic blog post you should go and take a look here! Hope this blog post and Laurels make you want to incorporate ICT into more of your learning experiences!

Prac!

Well the time has come to organise myself for the upcoming practical experience. I am hoping to meet with my mentor tomorrow to organise what she would like me to have ready/planned for the first day of teaching! I have been lucky enough to have a practical experience with a grade one class… I am both excited and yet scared to my wits end! I have never taught younger grades, only previously having pracs with year 5 and year 6…. hopefully I will love it! I hope I can be as organised as Mrs Brown seems to be after reading her last blog post!! Wishing everyone the best of luck!

Assessment quiz

After completing the week 8 learning path… I discovered my knowledge of assessment is very limited. After only completing one university subject on assessment in previous semesters I am worried at how little about assessment I can recall and use to create assessment pieces! The week 8 learning path contained an assessment quiz, asking what you thought the answer would be if a student was answering the question…. the answer I chose was the green shape, which was luckily enough correct! But it got me thinking… just how difficult it is to create and design an assessment piece that caters for the wide variety of students it is designed and implemented for! Hopefully as the course continues I begin to feel more confident about assessment and can create fun, engaging as well as relevant assessment pieces for my future students!

Assignment 2

So far, so good. That is all I have to say on the subject of Assignment 2! It has taken me a long while to find resources useful for this assessment task!…. Whilst researching I stumbled across Laurel’s blog where she featured a post on the use of free resources on the internet as well as Edublogs! What a fantastic post you have written Laurel, you really inspired me to go ahead and keep researching and searching for useful resources for my unit plan! I love the fact that there is, like you said so many free resources out there for you to use… just a click away! Hopefully this enthusiasm keeps going! and this assignment will be finished in no time!

Holidays, stress and assignment 2!

The Easter Break. WHAT A FANTASTIC TIME! After having what I would call an amazing weekend away I have now come back to resume my work on Assignment 2.

Assignment 2 is starting to really stress me out. I am almost finished my unit plan which as allowed me to have a break and double check my work and see where to go next…. I was researching some ideas for my unit plan when I came across Kiera’s blog on Claymation. What a fantastic idea! Claymation looks like a lot of fun and I would love to give it a try in my classroom! What a fun and interactive way to use ICTs, this is after all what using ICTs should be about… fun and engaging!

My aim for this assignment is to have it completed before the due date! (haha to those of you, like me am never organised for this to actually happen!). To help achieve this goal I have been looking at some time management techniques… take a look at this link…. http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/219553

internet frustrations!

The week that we have just had the last thing I neither needed nor wanted to happen was my internet dying!!!! It got me thinking… how reliant are we to the internet? there would not be a day that I would in some way access the internet… whether that be for uni, work or personal use. Even my mobile telephone uses the internet without even trying.. connecting to free Wi-Fi wherever we go etc. What would happen if we were internet free? How would we, as a technology generation survive? Perhaps this is something we seriously need to consider and think about…. or is it just me who am thinking about this…

Assignment 2

It is to my relief that I have after a very stressful week begin to look at assignment 2! After completeing week fives learning materials I have started to relax. I have throughout my studies completed many different unit plans for different subjects, but for the first time in I dont know how long! an assessment task has been outlined so clearly that there is no room for error! I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!! After reading week fives learning path it has made me realise that I can do this! I have chosen my context, learning objectives as well as understood the assessment criteria!

After reading Kiera’s blog I have been able to connect and understand the stresses she has gone through… as I am the same! Hopefully we will be able to help each other out with assignment two and limit our stress levels!
